AMD released it at speeds ranging from 20 MHz to 40 MHz, and both SX (16-bit externally) and DX (fully 32-bit) versions. By 1991, the 16 MHz 386 was obsolete. Running at the same clock rate, AMD’s version of the 386 had essentially identical performance to the Intel original.
